The primary objective of the program is to provide a solution to the absence of wholesale bank financing. BIG and its partners believe that current regulatory and economic conditions provide a window of opportunity for investment in community-based banking institutions and their facilities.
Target financial institutions based upon a number of selection criteria including:
- Current financial strength
- Regulatory capital needs
- Institution's management team
- Location and physical condition of the bank's owned real estate facilities
- The real estate market generally in the geographic in which the facilities are located
- Relative real estate values within that market
- Forecasts for economic growth and appreciation in real estate values generally within that market
- Must be a qualified financial institution chartered as a state or national bank.
- Target bank is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
